The 2nd GEG In The Whole History!!
On Friday 11th August 2017, Ormiston Primary and Ormiston Junior college hosted the 2nd EVER Google Summit!, known as GEG (Google Education Groups). On that lifetime day, OJC and OrmPS were exhilarated to be part of this event. But obviously, this year's GEG wasn't just with OJC and OrmPS there were many different schools joining us on behalf of GEG. We even had a school come from Rotorua just for GEG!
The LH6 learners all had a job or role to do on this amazing event that is being connected to technology. Most of the jobs were presenters, participators, IT monitors, sidekicks and more. I was the participator and I was basically attending other peoples workshops. There was also another group that sung waiatas to everyone attending. I joined this group so I could build up some confidence to be in front of lots of people. We sang Te Aroha and E Toru Nga Mea which I lead with my friend Natasha.
There were a variety of workshops getting run throughout the day. But the ones I had participated in was Young Ocean Explorer's, Breakout EDU and Stop Motion like a Pro. My first workshop was... The Young Ocean Explorers was about a father and daughter who were really passionate about underwater life. Their names are Steve Hathaway (Dad) and Riley Hathaway (Daughter). Steve was a underwater photographer and their story began with one project that Riley had to do at her school. She called it "Save The Turtles" and from that Riley and Steve have been out exploring wondrous creatures that maybe some people didn't even know about. That was one of my favourite workshops because I love absolutely everything about underwater life and to stop pollution or rubbish from being thrown in waterways. My second workshop was.. BreakoutEDU. The Breakout was about the movie and book 'The BFG". Their were clues and locks to solve and discover to find an answer or treasure. We didn't quite finish the Breakout but it was SUPER fun!! My third workshop was.. Stop Motion Like a Pro. I liked this workshop because I got to learn about different techniques and apps to help with stop motion. My second workshop was... Breakout EDU. Breakout EDU is like a puzzle or quest to unlock a mystery or clue. This Breakout was based on the story or movie 'The BFG'.
My next steps would be to try out different workshops next time that I wouldn't go to normally.
THANK YOU!!

Stop... Pause... GO!!
YAY!!, Week 4 went super fast! But anyways, in this blog post I am going to do something a little bit different. Today I am going to use the Traffic light format. I will be sharing with you something I found tricky this week something I realize I need to improve and 2 things I've done really awesomely.
One learning area I found tricky this week was maths. We did collaborative problem solving and the problem was about triangles. I found it tricky because I had to fit all the angles and techniques into my brain to find the 3 types of triangle, also to solve the problem.
One learning area that I realize I need to improve on is P.E. Since the cross country is coming up and we need to start practicing for it. I need to improve on running as fast as I can because I want to beat my goal from last year's cross country.
Two areas I did really awesome this week are writing and literacy. I know that my speech writing is going to be amazing because I used lots of descriptive language and lots of remarkable features to make my writing spectacular to present a speech about donating to a charity. I also am really proud of my literature circle role because I had finished my work on time and added some questions to ask my group. Also since I was the expert in literature circles in my group, I helped my group run the meeting.

Week 3 Of Term 3
It's already the 3rd week back to school!. YAY!!. I feel better to be back at school. So today on this blog post I am going to share with you some amazing things I've done so far this term. Well to do this I am going to use emojis again.
This is my first emoji. I chose this emoji because this week and last week we have been learning about starting our speeches (Also a bit of term 3). We have to produce a speech that is explaining about a charity that is helping the world to stop polluting and basically just stop global warming. I am super proud of my plan and all the effort I put into the commas workshop and in my plan. I was focused at all times and was never off task. I also was looking at my book standards to keep them up to date. Another thing, when I started writing my actual speech I am super duper proud of the rich vocabulary I used in my speech.
This is my second emoji. I chose this emoji because today (Thursday) we had our maths strategy workshop. I was curious about the different types of strategies that I can use to help me solve subtraction problems. But the one that we were focusing on in particular was add, don't subtract. It was basically you were reversing a subtraction problem into an addition problem and then the problem becomes an addiction problem. In order, to solve the problem easily we used a number line.
This is my third emoji. I chose this emoji because tomorrow (Friday) is the GEG summit. A bunch of learners from LH6, LH3 and some other learners from other schools have brought up a presentation about something cool using digital tools or robots. They share their knowledge with other learners and then they give each other feedback and feedforward. I'm not a presenter but I am a participator or attendee and I'm lucky enough to be included in other people's workshops.
Thank you for taking your time out to read this blog post. I know, I know it was SOOOOOO Long!!. I'm sorry but I will try and make my blog's a bit shorter.
THANK YOU!!

WHAT!! It's Term 3!! WOW!!
WOAH!!, it's Term 3 already!!. But anyways, in this blog post I am going to do something a little bit different. You would have thought it was a simple reflection but it's actually not!. I am going to select 3 amazing emoji's and describe how I felt this week as it is the first week of term.
This is my first emoji. I chose this emoji because I was away on Monday and Tuesday as I was at Fiji. I will tell you guys what I did in Fiji on another blog post!😀.
This is my second emoji. I chose this emoji because I was REALLY tired because I didn't get enough sleep as I was travelling a lot in the holidays. Also, because in the holidays I get to sleep in but as it was school I didn't get to.
This is my third emoji. I chose this emoji because in the workshop we did today for maths was a little bit complicating. In maths we did problem solving and there were problems based on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We did the problems to show the learning coach how we solve problems and how we used our learning from the past few terms.
Hmm... What am I looking forward to this term. I am looking forward to SOOO much things!!. But what I'm super excited about is the Year 6 Kokako Lodge camp. We get to stay their for 4 days'ish. Also I am looking forward to learning new things everyday and share it with my parents.

Science Madness!!!
There were experiments like the elephant toothpaste which is not actually made for elephant's to brush their teeth, that's just the name of the experiment. Another experiment we did was with liquid nitrogen which is -346°F and dried ice temperature is -109.3°F. They are both REALLY COLD!!. When they react with water it creates a water vapor. Also, the Science Roadshow helped me so I could understand science in a more fun and creative way.

Shooting Galore!!
On Thursday 8th June, the new netball team played against Mission Heights on the Ormiston Primary courts!!.😊💪👍
First, when we started the whole team was VERY nervous!!, but we were alright and ready to play. The players in my team were... Me, Yuvika, Samantha, Komal, Shaval, Karis, Aditi and Sameeha.
Secondly, this was the position I was playing on the day... GA which is goal attack. I was helping Karis shoot and also helping the team defend. The other positions were C-center, WA-wing-attack, WD-wing-defence, GA-goal-attack, GD-goal-defence, GS-goal-shoot, GK-goal-keep.
Thirdly, I was the captain and Aditi was co-captain, and mostly my job was to play rock, paper, scissors with the other team's captain before we play the game so we can decide who chooses a goal or who starts with the ball. I won the rock, paper, scissors so I chose the ball and the other team chose the goal, they picked the nearest goal where it was sunny and we had to use the goal on the far end and we had a better opportunity to have lots of goals because we had less sun in our eyes while shooting.
The game was #oresome because we had WON the game!!!. I don't remember the scores or the ending points.
My next steps would be to try and explore more different techniques and tricks so I can become EVEN better at netball than I already am.
THANK YOU!!!

Memorable NYLD!!
On Thursday 25th May the year 6's went to the National Young Leaders Day in Auckland.
We started NYLD with a chat from Liz and Christian. They introduced themselves and what will be happening today because they were the hosts. Some of the speakers that explained about being an #oresome leader were:
We started NYLD with a chat from Liz and Christian. They introduced themselves and what will be happening today because they were the hosts. Some of the speakers that explained about being an #oresome leader were:
My favorite speaker was Daniel Flynn because he had an inspirational story. He thought of the people in countries with no clean water. He helped them out by making a company called Thank you. The company sells and gives the clean water to countries like India and South Africa. Little kids are dying due to dirty water, so to raise an awareness Daniel Flynn thought of this amazing plan.
What I learned from this experience was that you will always go past no's and other words that will let you down, but you will need support from other people and if you try your hardest your dream will come true.
My next steps would be to inspire other people or share this with my friends and family.
THANK YOU!!!

Slimy iExplore!!
Slimy iExplore!!
Yes, I have done an iExplore on slime with... Tong Yu, Sharon, and Louisa. I've always wanted to make and explore about slime and so I gathered up with them and made it happen. We found some awesome facts about slime, it was interesting. Did you know that slime was created by Nickelodeon. WOW!!. When we were finished with our research, we went a step further from doing a boring presentation and thought of making a workshop that taught people about slime and how to make slime. We made 2 different types of slime. Fluffy slime and clear slime. The learners got to choose if they wanted charms or beads in it or food coloring. When we started making our sign up sheet we thought we could make it first in, first serve. It was a tough decision because there are more than 40 learners in this habitat and we were offering 10 spaces. Everyone started getting sad when the spaces were full so I added 4 more spaces. So before we had 10 then what's 10+4??. 14!!. We did 2 separate workshops but at the same time. When people came to the workshop they were so excited and really curious as soon as they came to the workshop. When we started the workshop everyone was focusing on what was happening and when the making part came... everyone went CRAZY!!. Some people collaborated with each other, some people were so enthusiastic and eager. I was in the fluffy slime workshop with Tong Yu. Most people in our workshop had their slime work which was a SUCCESS!!. Most people in the clear slime workshop's slime worked, the leader of the fluffy slime workshop was Louisa and Sharon. We didn't have enough time to do everything but we managed it and we were finished. We ended u r workshop with a good end. My next steps would be to try to be more organized and faster.

Freakshake Maddness!!
This is my awesomely amazing Freakshake. Ms Love showed LH6 an image of a message that she got from Colin who is the manager of Cereal Killa Cafe. The team at Cereal Killa Cafe set us a challenge.. the challenge was to make a freakshake a.k.a milkshake inspired by our summer holidays. This topic was a bit tricky because I did a lot of things during the holidays. But I did manage to think of some of them. We had to make an advertisement about our freakshake because it was going into the Cereal Killa Cafe. We started of with a draft on a presentation that Ms Love shared with LH6. After that when we were finished Mrs Pearson who was my literacy learning coach. We had to make our final draft of how our freakshake advertisement is go to look. I thought I could do mine digitally so I could access it at home and at school. I did my advertisement on Pic Collage. After when we were finished we had to make some changes to it and then send it of to our literacy learning coach to mark it and proof read it. I think we did this competition to learn how to make cool advertisements and that will help develop our capabilities in writing and our learning. My next steps would be to work more faster and try and do different types of writing subjects like character writing and others.
THANK YOU!!
